The Cleansing Ritual
The Cool Down
Patience is key. Allow your cookware to return to room temperature naturally. Thermal shock—the sudden shift from hot to cold—is the enemy of enamel.
Soak & Soften
Use warm water and a gentle cleanser. For stubborn remnants, a 20-minute soak allows the residue to lift effortlessly without aggressive force.
Dry & Preserve
Rinse thoroughly. Immediately dry with a soft cloth, paying close attention to the raw iron rim to prevent oxidation.
While technically compatible, the dishwasher is a harsh environment. We recommend hand washing to maintain the signature gloss of your enamel.
Restoration
The Natural Method
Create a paste of baking soda and water. Apply to stained areas and let it rest for several hours. This gentle abrasive lifts stains without scratching.
Deep Cleaning
For polymerization or scorched spots, specialized enamel cleaners like Bar Keepers Friend can restore the surface to its original brilliance.
Steel wool and metal scouring pads are strictly forbidden. They will micro-scratch the enamel, dulling the finish permanently.
Daily Mastery
Heat Management
Cast iron is a heat reservoir. Low to medium settings are all that is required for searing or simmering. High heat is unnecessary.
Tools of the Trade
Respect the surface. Use silicone or wooden utensils. Metal tools can chip the glass-like enamel coating.
Nesting Storage
If stacking is required, use felt protectors or a linen cloth between vessels to prevent rim-on-enamel contact.
